The” PEACE” Fruit

The” PEACE” Fruit

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE
“PEACE”

In Galatians 5:16, the word of God tells us to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. In a couple of verses further down, we learn that the fruit of the Spirit is; Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance ~ Galatians 5:22-23.

Ladies! Can you believe the word of the Lord?…Even in the midst of storms, we can live in peace! But we have to choose peace. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee ~Isaiah 26:3. Unfortunately we don’t get to escape trials and tribulations as daughters of the Most High. But we can learn to have peace by putting ALL of our trust in Jesus. We can’t trust Him with our health but don’t trust Him with our marriage. We can’t trust Him for a promotion but don’t trust Him with our children. In order to experience God’s fruit PEACE, we have to let go and trust in the “I AM”.

Let’s look at a story about Jesus being our peace…

22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him (Luke Chapter 8: 22-25).

In the beginning of this passage of scriptures we need to take note that Jesus went into the boat WITH his disciples. They were not alone and they had the “I AM” with them.  He gave them instructions on where to go and then He fell asleep. Out of all of the people that you have in your corner, the most important one to have on deck is Jesus. You can bring your prayer partner, your mom, and even your pastor but above them, you need the “I AM” when you encounter a storm. I’m pretty sure that Jesus already knew a storm was coming and He was not surprised. He didn’t go into a panic mode and ask what were they going to do? Have you ever encountered a storm in your life and reached out to someone other than God about it? But that person responded by panicking right along with you and you were actually hoping that they would calm you down. Instead of bringing you peace, their emotions just ended up heightening your emotions making things even worse. In the midst of a storm in your life, you must depend on Jesus and Him alone. He is the only one that can speak to your storm and bring peace to it. For a moment it seemed as if the disciples had forgotten who they were with. For a moment, they allowed their fears to take away their peace and their minds were not on Jesus but instead it was on the winds and the raging waters from the storm. They became so consumed with their surroundings that they even began to think that they were going to perish. We cannot look at our situation and think that it is the end. We have to know that God is the author and the finisher of our faith. We have to trust that He has already made provision for every single storm that we encounter and we have to know that He is on deck. His presence should cause us to be in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him.

I can remember a time in my marriage when the ship was really rocky. I prayed to see changes in my marriage and it seemed as if Jesus was sleep. We argued about every little thing. Our communication was off and we could not see eye to eye at all. We both offended each other with words that hit below the belt. We allowed the enemy to ruin our date nights with the smallest thing. But then God brought about peace when we made a mutual decision that we would stop fighting each other and start fighting the real enemy.  We had to transform our minds and learn to guard our peace. We are now more patient with one another and choose our words carefully. And yes, we are still a work in progress and God will never be finished with us. Marriage is a journey and it’s about growing together!

There may be times in your life wherein that you think that Jesus is sleep on you. Your boat may be rocking to and fro from the strong waves hitting your marriage or the cares of this world but I want you to know that He is always on deck. He does not jump ship to leave you in the midst of the storm. No matter what winds may come your way whether it’s a health scare, you being laid off from your job, or even your marriage on shaky grounds. You have got to know that the “I AM” is with you. When you walk with God, you experience the peace of God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus ~Philippians 4:7. God can speak to your raging winds and cause them to cease. God can cause those in your circle to ask “What manner of man is this?” But in order for you to live in that peace, you must keep your mind stayed on Jesus.  You must trust in Him and know that He causes you to triumph! Know that He will never leave you and that He is in the ship WITH you! He is our calm. He is our peace. Set your mind on the “I AM” and let Him give you peace on your boat!
