The “JOY” Fruit

The “JOY” Fruit

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE
“JOY”
In Galatians 5:16, the word of God tells us to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. In a couple of verses further down, we learn that the fruit of the Spirit is; Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance ~ Galatians 5:22-23.

Ladies, it’s hard to find JOY in your marriage when it looks like all chaos is breaking loose. Have you ever felt like you’ve been praying, fasting, and planting good seeds in your marriage but instead of things getting better they appear to be getting worse? You are not alone! But you have to trust and believe that God is working behind the scenes. You can’t give up on God in the in the darkest hour. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning ~ Psalm 30:5
Let’s look a dark time in the life of Paul and Silas…

Paul and Silas were arrested, beaten, and put in prison for preaching the gospel of Jesus. While in prison, Paul and Silas sat with their feet in stocks yet they were still singing and praising God. Who does that?? They found JOY in the midst of being in chains and behind bars! They were willing to make a joyful noise unto the Lord! At midnight, an earthquake shook the foundation and opened the prison doors, setting them free. When the guard woke up and saw this he became fearful because he knew that he would be the one to blame for them getting set free. He drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he didn’t want to face the wrath of his superiors. Paul and Silas convinced him not to hurt himself, they preached the gospel to him, and he was saved, along with his entire household that night (Refer to Acts Chp 16)

Because Paul and Silas were able to find JOY in their darkest hour, they were able to win souls for Jesus!! How amazing is this story?! What if they would have murmured and complained about their situation? What if their response was to turn on God and to stop serving Him because they were thrown in prison? They could have easily adopted the mindset of “Why me, God”? and “How could you do this to us God”? But instead, they were able to find  JOY to praise God even when things were not looking so good for them. Instead of being mad at God, they rejoiced in Him! And because they did not give up on God and kept praising Him and they kept their joy, they were able to get free and save souls in the process. Paul and Silas were focused on their ministry no matter what. They were able to attend upon HIM! They weren’t focused on having a set stage with people registered to hear them preach at some big conference. They were able to use the prison as their platform!

I can recall a number of times that I was upset with my husband and I had to find JOY in Jesus. So I would throw a praise party in advance with expectation that He was fighting for me. But not just for me, but to walk in his purpose and the mandate that God has on his life. Even in the darkest hour of our marriage, I had to see my marriage healed. You have to see your husband’s heart turning towards God. See him being promoted. See your marriage going to a new place of intimacy and friendship. See God restoring and refreshing your love for one another. See God opening doors for you both that no other man can shut. Let’s learn how to find JOY in dark hours.

Don’t you dare allow the enemy to make you feel as if you married the wrong man. Don’t look at your sister’s husband or your coworker’s husband and start wishing upon the stars that your husband was more like someone else. Put in your requests with God. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ~Philippians 4:6. Don’t get sidetracked with your current situation. Don’t lose sight in the darkest hour. Allow God to use you to be a witness to your husband. Let him use you to shake the foundation of your marriage. Shake off the chains and destroy yokes that may have your husband bound from childhood, past relationships, or generational curses by letting your response be JOY accompanied with praise! Learn to put a praise on whatever breakthrough that you desire to take place in your marriage, your job, your children’s lives, your health, or your business. Paul and Silas breakthrough came right at midnight which was the time that it’s considered to be the darkest outside. No matter how dark your situation may look, you have to have faith that your breakthrough comes after it looks as if it’s not going to get any better.  Be like Paul and Silas and attend upon HIM! Your joy is coming in the morning!
