FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE
In Galatians 5:16, the word of God tells us to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. In a couple of verses further down, we learn that the fruit of the Spirit is; Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance ~ Galatians 5:22-23.
Ladies, have you ever doubted God? Have you ever questioned whether or not He was going to hear your cries and answer your prayers? No matter what we see or don’t see happening around us, we must remember that it is our FAITH that moves God and it is our doubt that moves the enemy. Either way, what you believe can ultimately determine if you will receive your breakthrough or not.
Let’s look at the story of Jesus healing two blind men…
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened. (Matthew Chapter 9: 27-30)
When my faith is being tested in any area of my life, I find myself reverting back to these passage of scriptures to evaluate my level of faith and trust in Jesus. One of the first things that you notice in this story is that the two men “followed” Jesus. They followed Him because they knew that He had what they needed in order to be healed. They followed Him because they knew that in order to get what they desired, they had to get close to Him. I encourage you to get close to God! In addition to this the two blind men used their voices! They cried unto Him. You see there is a sound that you can make to get God’s attention. There was a sound that went out in almost every great story in the bible of people who desired a breakthrough in God. For Hannah, her sound was worship and she conceived a son. For Jehoshaphat and his people, their sound was praise and their enemies were slain before the fight even began and they were able to collect their enemy’s riches. For the Israelites when they walked around the Jericho wall the seventh time on the seventh day, their sound was a great shout before the walls fell down. What sound do you make that causes God to move on your behalf?
One of the most difficult things to learn to do is praise God in the midst of the test especially when you don’t know how long the test is going to last. Do you remember the tests that you had to take in high school or college? It was either a one hour test with multiple choice answers. Or it was an essay style test and you have to fill in the blanks. Some tests required matching. Your spiritual tests are the same way. You may have multiple choice answers or you may have to do some real work and fill in the blanks. Even though you may not know what kind of test it is, you have to have faith that the teacher, our heavenly Father, won’t give you a test that He didn’t prepare you for. Or even if you weren’t prepared, He will provide the answers. He won’t let you fail a test that you can’t find the answers to. I can remember when I was a teenager and had to take my driver license test. Even though I had studied and practiced, I was still nervous to take the test. I didn’t know the route that we were going to take or when the facilitator was going to ask me to make a turn but I had to know which signal was for a left turn and which one was for a right turn. I had to be prepared to do a parallel park (which I cannot do well even today unless there is a huge space available between the cars). But I still had faith that I was going to pass and that I was not going home without my license. I came well prepared and ready for a beautiful pic so I wore by best. It seemed like the longest drive ever. I completed the parallel parking and passed with flying colors my first time!
Jesus asked the two blind men,” Did they believe that He was ABLE to heal them?”. Do you believe that God is able to work out a situation in your marriage? Do you believe that just like He turns the heart of kings, He is able to turn your husband’s heart? Your faith will either deny you or allow you your blessing. Jesus wanted to perform more blessings in Jerusalem but He could not because they didn’t believe that He was sent. They thought of him just being the carpenter and Mary and Joseph’s son. So He left. Don’t allow your lack of faith in God causes Him to deny you your miracle from taking place. When the blind men said yes to Jesus that they believed, His responded with the most beautiful words– According to your faith, be it unto you! Be it unto the promotion that you have been praying for. Be it unto your wound that you have been desiring for God to open to conceive a child. Be it unto you your children turning back to God and accepting Christ as their savior. Be unto you that your marriage is healed. Be it unto YOU!
