T2W’s Weekly Scripture Meditation
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Ladies, our hearts must trust confidently in the process and the work of the Lord! When we reason in our hearts we start to lean to our own understanding. Our understanding will talk us out of the marriage. It will talk us out of our healing. It will talk us out of believing in whether or not a miracle can actually take place for us. When you lean unto your understanding, it can even talk you out of having faith as to whether or not God’s promises are for you.
So many of us look at our current situation and we ask God the 5 fold questions: What, When, Where, Why, and How? We ask Him what is He going to do to change the situation? When is the change going to take place? Where is the change going to take place? Why is it taking so long for the change to take place? And we ask Him How is the change going to take place? And when we don’t know the answers to these questions, it causes us to default into our own understanding. We become trapped in thoughts that we roll over constantly in our minds and our own understanding makes it hard for us to trust God. Our own understanding causes us to not only delay the promises of God but if we are not careful then it can cause us to block the blessings of God. Instead of leaning to your rationales I invite you to lean unto God’s rationale. Look unto Him to be the author and finisher of the work that He has begin for you to experience more love in your marriage, more peace, more joy, and more friendship. He is pulling on your coat tail and asking you to not follow your own thinking.
When you speak ill against your marriage you are talking yourself out of God performing the miracle. The children of Israel talked themselves out of God performing the miracle for them. They murmured and complained so much that God was not pleased with their behavior. But if they would have trusted in God instead of following their own understanding, they could have made it into the promise land. Yet they allowed their thinking to cause them to miss out on something that God had for them. Don’t allow your lack of confidence in God cause you to miss out on what He has with your name on it. Israel was God’s chosen people. Canaan (the promise land) had already been chosen for them. Your breakthrough has already been chosen for you.
Do not allow the tests and trials of your marriage to diminish your faith in God. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him ~Hebrews 10:38. The children of Israel lost faith in the power of God and because of it, they didn’t receive their blessing. The Lord did not have pleasure in them due to their lack of faith. We cannot afford to draw back our faith during a challenge. We must trust in the power of our living God and what He is more than capable of performing. Our hearts must rest and trust confidently in Him. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded ~Hebrews 10:35. Your confidence that God will bring restoration to your marriage will be richly rewarded. Your confidence that your husband and your children will be saved will be richly rewarded. Allow your confidence in God to reward you. Hold fast to the profession of your faith and refuse to be moved by your own understanding!
